Yenze Theatre Conservatoire is dedicated to nurturing the next generation of performing artists through comprehensive training, innovative productions, and community engagement. Founded in 2021 by Aganza Kisaka, an award winning actress and experienced theatre director, our conservatoire has become a beacon of artistic excellence, empowering aspiring performers to realize their full potential and make a meaningful impact in the world through apprenticeship, mentorship and acting classes.
This July, we are proud to announce our inaugural production, “She Loves Me,” presented through a special arrangement with Music Theatre International which also supplied all authorized performance materials. The production is set to grace the stage at the National Theatre with 11 shows starting on July 19th, 2024. This delightful romantic comedy, directed by Aganza Kisaka, Lakuc Simeon Rugette, Amanyire Andrew and Mirian Mwase, promises to captivate audiences with its charm and witty-humor.
Based on the play by Miklós László, “She Loves Me” follows the story of two rivalring perfume clerks, Amalia Balash and Georg Nowack, who fall in love with each other through anonymous romantic pen pals. As their letters become a source of comfort, their workplace rivalry intensifies, leading to a series of comedic misunderstandings and heartwarming revelations. Set against the backdrop of a bustling 1930s Budapest, this tale explores the complexities of love, longing, and the transformative power of human connection taking us back to the days of letter writing.
This production comes as a celebration of our three years in the industry with alumni from four graduating classes. It’s a testament to the arts community we’ve built here at Yenze Theatre Conservatoire.
The production will kick off with its cocktail opening night on July 19th, 2024, followed by additional performances on July 20th, 21st, 26th, 27th, and 28th. Audiences will have the opportunity to experience the magic of romance and comedy with two shows each day, starting at 2:30pm and 7:30pm. Starring iconic names in the performance industry such as Kenneth Mugabi, Tayo Shonubi and Andrew Amanyire.
This production is generously sponsored by Ham Enterprises, Destiny Consult, Maja Group, the office of the first Lady and friends and family. Yenze Theatre Conservatoire extends heartfelt gratitude to all sponsors and friends who have generously supported this production and our journey over the past three years. Their unwavering dedication has made this milestone possible, and we are immensely grateful for their continued belief in our mission to inspire, entertain, and enrich our community through artistic excellence in the performing arts.
